Indiana Fever (13-16) at Chicago Sky (21-8)
When: 7:30 p.m., today
Where: Allstate Arena
TV: The U Too
Last time: On Wednesday, the Fever lost to the host Atlanta Dream, 89-80; on Saturday, the Sky defeated the visiting Atlanta Dream, 85-68.
Skinny: The Fever, which has already won two of three games in the series this season, has burned the Sky many times over the years and is up 25-6 in the series overall. In its seven previous seasons, the Sky has never won two games against Indiana in a season. And last year, the Sky went 0-5 against the Fever…It’s important for the Sky to solve the riddle that is Indiana not only to get this heavy monkey off its back, but to send a message for the postseason. The Fever, which is currently sitting in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, is a likely first-round playoff opponent for the first-place Sky…On a six-game winning streak, the Sky is coming off its most well-rounded win of the season. The reserves came up with a season-high 29 points in last weekend’s win over Atlanta…Meanwhile, the honors keep rolling in for the Sky. This week, center Sylvia Fowles was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Month for August while forward Elena Delle Donne was named the WNBA’s Rookie of the Month…The Fever, which is the defending WNBA champion but has been decimated by injuries this season, is still getting big numbers out of former Stevenson star Tamika Catchings. She scored 22 points in Wednesday’s loss in Atlanta.
