VNA Health Care receives grant for new construction

Submitted by VNA Health Care

VNA Health Care has been awarded $100,000 from Tellabs Foundation in support of the construction of a second VNA Health Center in Aurora. The grant will be used to help build a second VNA Health Center now under construction on Farnsworth Avenue, between Dearborn and Indian avenues.

This health center is scheduled to open in December 2013 and will allow VNA to provide access to care for the more than 32,000 people in Aurora who are currently not accessing affordable health care.

VNA currently serves 1 in 11 residents of Kane County. VNA Health Care recently received national recognition by Health Resources and Services Administration for exceeding national quality standards in family practice, OB/GYN and pediatric health services.

VNA has been providing care within the Fox River Valley for nearly 95 years and, like the founders of VNA, are turning to the community to seek their philanthropic support in order to meet this growing need for affordable health care. VNA welcomes Tellabs Foundation to its new Community Leaders Giving Circle. This new initiative celebrates the generosity of donors giving at a level of $5,000 and above in support of the expansion of VNA Health Care throughout the VNA service area.

The Dunham Fund awarded a $250,000 Challenge Grant to VNA Health Care’s Growing to Serve expansion campaign. Dunham Fund will match $1 for every $2 of additional funding VNA secures from other sources by June 30, 2014, for the construction of a new VNA Health Center on the east side of Aurora.
