Get big business out of elections

In his State of the Union address, President Obama spoke of the recent Supreme Court decision in the case of Citizens United v The Federal Election Commission. This ruling by the Supreme Court is a slap in the face to the American people.

Corporations are not people. They are not born, they do not die, and they cannot be put in prison when convicted of criminal wrongdoing. This ruling gives corporations, including foreign corporations, unrestrained ability to manipulate our electoral process. As the president said, now is the time for public financing of elections. We need to get big business out of our elections.
