Pedestrian killed crossing Indianapolis street
INDIANAPOLIS — Police say an SUV struck and killed a man who was walking across a main street on the south side of Indianapolis.
City police say the man was crossing Madison Avenue when he was hit about 10:45 p.m. Sunday. The driver told officers he wasn’t able to stop in time to avoid hitting the man after spotting him.
Police say the driver cooperated with investigators and that drunken driving wasn’t suspected.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity wasn’t immediately released.
