Meet Carpentersville's new village manager

Residents can meet the newest member of the Carpentersville village staff at a special board meeting on Tuesday.

The board is expected to approve a contract for the new village manager. Trustees selected their top candidate more than a week ago and village officials have been reluctant to identify her.

I am told the new manager is a woman, but is not currently working for the village. That means the new manager is neither Keith Hinz or Acting Village Manager Dawn Wucki-Rossbach. The latter has served as the village manager since Craig Anderson retired in early June.

Contacted after the special executive session meeting on Saturday, Aug. 21, Village President Ed Ritter declined to divulge any details on the candidate other than to say all of the finalists had extensive village-government experience. Ritter said the new manager is from the greater Chicago area but declined to give a specific location. The new manager would be required to move to Carpentersville within a year.

Few details of the contract were available, but Ritter said the one-year contract is worth about $130,000. However, some trustees said the new hire has offered to reduce her salary in an effort to help the village overcome a financial crunch.

The village manager will be introduced to the public during a special board meeting at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 31 at village hall, 1200 LW Besinger Dr., Carpentersville.

Car show: Another type of celebration in Carpentersville is slated for Saturday, Sept. 18 at the former site of the Meadowdale International Raceway.

The second annual Meadowdale, Motorsports and Memories Car Show will feature old race cars that zoomed around the track in its heyday, former drivers and lots of photos and memorabilia from the era.

The Meadowdale International Raceway Preservation Association will again host the event. If you would like to show your car, registration is $15 per vehicle and is from 8:30 to 10 a.m. The show car entrance is just north of the Spring Hill Mall on Route 31 at the entrance to the silo at Raceway Woods (approximately 1.5 miles north of Route 72 and one-half-mile north of Huntley Road).

Trailer parking will be one-tenth of a mile north of the silo in the Springhill Business Center Parking Lot. Please contact organizers at (847) 421-2891 if you are bringing a trailer.

Spectator parking will be off Route 31 at the original entrance to the Raceway (approx. one-half-mile south of the silo Entrance, across from 140 N. Rt. 31 Carpentersville).
