Scouting FC Dallas: FC Dallas (13-11-7, 46 points) almost has a playoff spot sewn up, sitting in the top wild-card position for now. The teams tied 1-1 in the regular-season opener and will try to settle the Brimstone Cup in Chicago. Midfielder Brek Shea and defender George John are young players on the rise.

Scouting the Fire: The Fire (7-8-16, 37 points) needs a victory in its last-gasp bid for the playoffs, and it might have to play without midfielder Marco Pappa (international duty) and forward Dominic Oduro (illness). With three matches left the Fire is 6 points behind Houston for the 10th and final MLS playoff spot, and it also needs to pass D.C. United and Portland.
