McDonald's Europe head Denis Hennequin resigns

The head of McDonald's Europe, Denis Hennequin, will resign at the end of the month to become CEO of Accor Hotel Group, the restaurant chain said Wednesday.

Hennequin's resignation is effective Nov. 30. The 52-year-old will become CEO at Accor on Dec. 1, replacing Gilles Pelisson.

Hennequin has been president of McDonald's Europe since 2005 and an employee of the world's largest burger chain since 1984. In 1996 he was named president of McDonald's France. McDonald's is headquartered in Oak Brook.

McDonald's CEO Jim Skinner said the company is searching for a replacement and expects to name one soon.

Hennequin has been a board member of France-based Accor since 2009.
