Ex-Ind. cop sentenced for child porn
JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. -- A former southern Indiana police officer has pleaded guilty to child pornography possession charges more than four years after he was arrested in the case.
Under a plea agreement with Clark County prosecutors, 44-year-old Richard Goodwin was sentenced Tuesday to 18 months of probation and required to register as a sex offender. The Evening News of Jeffersonville reports prosecutors dropped 12 felony counts of child exploitation.
Deputy Prosecutor Jeremy Mull said Goodwin didn't create any pornographic images but downloaded and transmitted them.
Goodwin resigned from the Sellersburg Police Department following his 2006 arrest after eight years on the force. He earlier had been a Clark County sheriff's deputy for eight years.
