Fewer Grant Park repairs needed after Lollapalooza

The company that runs Lollapalooza says restoration of Chicago’s Grant Park after this year’s festival will be “minimal and swift.”

WMAQ-TV reports that promoters C3 Presents will have most of the work done in about two months. Lollapalooza sets up in the lakefront park every August for three days. C3 Presents is responsible for paying for repairing Grant Park after the fest.

This year, promoters say there was better weather, which means less work needs to be done. There still will be mulch removal and soil placement. Areas of the park also will be cordoned off to allow time for grass to grow again.

Heavy rains made conditions muddy in 2011 and let to costly repair bills.
