Indiana trooper formally charged in gun-waving case

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — An Indiana State Police officer who allegedly waved a gun inside a central Indiana restaurant has been formally charged with criminal recklessness and disorderly conduct.

Thirty-year-old Christopher T. Dyer of Oakland City also faces misdemeanor charges of resisting law enforcement and public intoxication in the incident. State Police Sgt. Todd Ringle says Dyer is on administrative leave from the State Police's Evansville district.

Ringle declined to comment further on the case.

The Evansville Courier & Press reports that Dyer is scheduled to appear Wednesday in a Hamilton County courtroom.

He was arrested on Aug. 18 outside a restaurant in Fishers just north of Indianapolis after witnesses called police to report that an intoxicated man was waving a gun in the eatery's bathroom.
