Reject lawmakers who backed tax increase

This year, when Illinois voters decide whom they’ll support for the state legislature, I hope all of them will remember what happened in January 2011.

Gov. Quinn said that if the state personal income tax was increased from 3 percent to 5 percent, that would decrease the state government’s deficit.

The state senate and house passed the increase, and no Republican voted for it. Gov. Quinn signed the bill. Now, the state government’s deficit is higher than it was in January 2011.

I hope that no legislator who voted for that bill will be re-elected this year. They took more money from Illinois workers without the promised result.
