Must be better way to create districts

Thanks, Daily Herald, for printing the legislative district information for all of the towns in DuPage County. What a shame that Congressional, state senate and state house districts have been so eviscerated.

Des Plaines is carved up the worst, into four Congressional districts, five state senate districts, and five state house districts. Next comes Naperville and Oswego, followed by Arlington Heights, Glenview, Gurnee, Northbrook, Waukegan and Wheeling.

How sad that Illinois law allows political parties to gerrymander voting districts for political gain. Isn’t there a better way to do it? Why not have those nice, neat township boundaries serve as permanent voting districts?
