Palatine cook-off to benefit Children’s Advocacy Center

Celebrating All That Is Feminine will host its annual Block Party and Rib and Chicken Cook-Off from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, at Station and Wilson streets in downtown Palatine. Proceeds benefit the Hoffman Estates-based Children’s Advocacy Center of North and Northwest Cook County.

The cook-off will feature rib and chicken samples, family friendly activities, a live auction, 50/50 raffle and performances by local bands Selective Amnesia and Function Undefined. Admission is free.

CATIF is a group of professional women who raise money for established charities and organizations in the area. Lorrene Conino, owner of Salon Lorrene in Palatine, recently won second place in the Wella Hair Dressers at Heart Charity Challenge for her involvement in CATIF and donated the $2,500 prize back to the nonprofit. The Children’s Advocacy Center supports children who have experienced sexual or severe physical abuse. For more information, visit cachelps.org.
