Watch out for norovirus:

Lake County residents are encouraged to take measures to avoid viral acute gastroenteritis, often caused by norovirus. Nine outbreaks of the virus, which affects the stomach and intestines, were reported in January. Noroviruses are very contagious and can spread quickly in families and other places, such as schools or long-term care facilities. Often called the “stomach flu” or “food poisoning” the symptoms are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, headache, fever/chills and muscle aches. Symptoms usually last only a few days but can be severe. For information or tips to avoid the ailment, call the Lake County Health Department at (847) 377-8130 or visit www.lakecountyil.gov/health.
