Off-duty cop suffers heart attack while on motorcycle
An off-duty Chicago police officer died after authorities say he had a heart attack while riding his motorcycle.
Police officials told the Chicago Sun-Times that the 44-year-old was in the Southwestern suburb of Willow Springs on Sunday evening when he had a heart attack while merging into traffic.
Authorities haven’t released the officer’s name but say he was a sergeant who had been with the department for more than two decades.
Police spokesman John Mirabelli said the sergeant “took every precaution to slow down his bike and avoid injury to other motorists or pedestrians.”
He was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center.
