Teen charged with shooting 7-year-old
A 15-year-old was ordered held in lieu of $900,000 bail on charges of firing a gun that resulted in the wounding of a 7-year-old Chicago boy.
The juvenile, whose name is being withheld because of his age, is charged with aggravated battery and the illegal discharge of a firearm.
Sunday’s shooting in Chicago’s West Pullman neighborhood wounded Tyvion Jackson in the chest and arm as he walked his bike into his home. Police said the boy wasn’t the intended target. Tyvion is recovering at home, but his mother says he’s afraid to go outside.
Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney Amanda Pillsbury said Tuesday the shooter was wearing an electronic monitor because of a pending drug case. It helped authorities determine the suspect was in the area of the shooting.
