7 teens charged in attack on 18-year-old Chicagoan
Chicago police say seven teenagers have been charged in the beating and robbing of an 18-year-old in the city’s Chinatown neighborhood.
Authorities say the man was walking near an El train stop around 11 p.m. Friday when a group of teens approached him. They allegedly robbed, taking his cell phone and debit card, and beat him.
The man had facial injuries and was hospitalized.
Police say security staff at the train station held the teens for police and were able to recover part of the man’s phone.
Two 16-year-olds were charged as juveniles with robbery and mob action. Five others are 17 and are charged as adults with felony counts of robbery, aggravated battery and mob action.
The five adults appeared in bond court Sunday.
