Kane sheriff investigating inmate’s death at jail

The Kane County sheriff’s office is investigating an inmate’s death Friday at the Kane County jail, officials said.

A female inmate at the Kane County Adult Justice Center in St. Charles was found unresponsive in her cell about 1:45 p.m. by an officer making a routine check, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

The inmate was transported to Delnor Hospital in Geneva, where she was pronounced dead just after 5 p.m., the release said. The inmate’s name was not released, pending notification of her relatives.
