A suggestion to make lake path safer
As a frequent morning biker on the Lake Arlington path, I was saddened by the death of the lady struck by a young cyclist. I also read where Arlington Heights has not budgeted to build the proposed second bike path around the existing path as part of the defeated parks referendums.
My wife has long suggested to me that walkers all go in one direction on perhaps the inside of the path, and bikers and skaters go in the opposite direction on the outside of the path. This would allow bikes to pass on the outside grass if needed. New markings and signs, along with initial enforcement presence, should soon lead to this compromise working out, without much additional expense. What do you say park district?
