Airsoft BB gun prompted school lockdown

The weapon that prompted a lockdown at a Wheeling middle school Tuesday was an airsoft BB gun, Wheeling Township Elementary District 21 officials said.

Holmes Middle School was locked down about noon after a reports of a potential gun on campus.

Wheeling police responded, and no one was injured. Students were dismissed classroom by classroom about 3:30 p.m., authorities said.
