Rolling Meadows man charged with molesting 5-year-old
A 45-year-old Rolling Meadows man appeared in a Rolling Meadows courtroom on Wednesday on charges that he sexually abused a 5-year-old girl last month.
Cook County Judge Jill Cerone Marisie set bail at $250,000 for Javier Martinez-Lopez, who was taken into custody Monday after the child’s mother reported the assault to police.
The child told her mother that Martinez-Lopez molested her then threatened to lock her in a room or kill her if she told, Cook County prosecutors said. The girl also told another adult that the defendant threatened to kill her with a gun or rape her if she told, according to police.
Martinez-Lopez’s background includes a one-year sentence for DUI in 2011 and one year conditional discharge for battery, said Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Maureen McGee. He next appears in court on Aug. 9.
