Ike Reilly Assassination heads local bands at Lollapalooza
Talk about "Good Work (If You Can Get It)," local band the Ike Reilly Assassination scored a nice summer job when it was added to the Lollapalooza roster this year.
Fresh from shooting its latest video, of the title above, at Reilly's alma mater, Libertyville High School, the Assassination plays the Sony stage at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8. Its blues-based, gutbucket rock 'n' roll, as displayed on its most recent album, "Hard Luck Stories," should go over well in a festival setting.
Otherwise, the local bands tend to be from Chicago, such as Windy City native Mavis Staples, who plays at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, on the Bud stage. Chicago's Company of Thieves plays at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, on the Sony stage.
Several Chicago disc jockeys will be spinning on Perry's stage, including Kaskade, Felix da Housecat, Flosstradamus, Only Children and BBU, the Chicago hip-hop duo formerly known as Bin Laden Blowing Up.
