Barrington Hills home invasion trial continued
The bench trial of a Wilmette man who authorities say held a Barrington Hills couple and their adult son at gunpoint in their home nearly five years ago, will continue Dec. 17 in Rolling Meadows, court records show.
Defense attorneys for Kuhn Kim, 28, say they will argue their client was insane at the time of the attack which prosecutors say occurred the morning of Dec. 5, 2008, in the home of Kyoko and Toshio Ogino.
In initial testimony in the trial last week, Kyoko Ogino, 64, described encountering a man she identified as Kim in the foyer of her home. The man pointed a gun at her and demanded $2,000, struck her in the head, tied her hands and ordered her in a closet in the master bedroom, she said. When Ogino’s husband Toshio and her son Todd returned home, they also were forced into the closet.
Kim faces charges of home invasion, armed robbery, aggravated burglary and aggravated kidnapping.
