Iowa woman charged after dogs die in car

JOLIET — An Iowa woman is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals after her dogs died in a hot car outside a Joliet store.

Authorities in Joliet say 27-year-old Maya Webb of Bettendorf left the dogs in her car while she was in the store for two hours on Sunday.

Lt. Steve Breen says Webb had a remote starter for the vehicle and told officers she thought she was turning her car on from inside the store every 20 minutes to cool it down.

Breen says she discovered the two pitbulls dead when she came out of the store and was very upset.

It was about 80 degrees Sunday when the animals where found.
