Teens with stolen jewelry, handgun found in Naperville
Naperville police recovered stolen jewelry and a .45-caliber semiautomatic handgun Thursday morning when they arrested three teens suspected of residential burglary, authorities said Friday.
The teens were found parked about 11:45 a.m. Thursday near Saddlebrook Drive and Deering Bay Drive in the White Eagle subdivision, Naperville police said.
Police said the occupants were involved earlier Thursday in a residential burglary in the 3100 block of Aviara Court, leaving obvious signs of forced entry including a back window and screen pried open about a block from where the vehicle was found.
The recovered handgun, however, was determined to be stolen from a residence in Oswego, police said.
Jose Ricardo Hernandez, 18, of the 1300 block of Dearborn Avenue in Aurora, was charged with residential burglary, aggravated battery, possession of cannabis, resisting a peace officer and an outstanding warrant.
Edwardo Correa Hernandez, 18, of the 2800 block of Frances Lane in Montgomery, was charged with residential burglary, possession of a stolen firearm without a firearm owners identification card, theft and an outstanding warrant.
A 17-year-old male was the third teen charged with residential burglary, while police said another 17-year-old male found Thursday morning in the “suspicious vehicle” was charged with possession of cannabis and resisting arrest.
Police said one of the teens had jewelry including rings, necklaces and bracelets in his pockets, while investigators found other items stolen from the house on Aviara Court in the trunk of the silver 1997 Mitsubishi Galant.
All four teens were taken to the Will County jail.
An officer was battered by one of the teens who resisted arrest, but police said the officer was not injured.
