Tired of losing sleep over CN
I am sure I am among the very many who are tire of waiting for trains along the old EJ&E Railroad crossings now owned by a Canadian firm, the CN Railroad.
The CN Railroad, simply put, skillfully and deliberately conned the citizens who live in the dozens of communities affected by the purchase of the EJ&E, the Surface Transportation Board and all the politicians who voted to give this Canadian company the right to disturb our way of life.
I live in Wayne and my offices are in West Chicago. If there is a CN colloquial, that would be definitely referred to as a "double whammy." More often than not, I am delayed by trains - sometimes as many as four at a time in West Chicago. The CN reported only 14, 10-minute or more delays in the entire area over the last two months. It seems I often experience many times more than that just going to and fro!
In Wayne, the whistles of the trains start whirling at about 3 a.m. and are usually back to back until at least 5 a.m. Our home is one mile west of the crossing; but it wakes me, my family and especially our dog who continues his own whaling as the whistles roar. I, frankly, do not know how those residents living nearer to the tracks can tolerate it. I would also presume this isn't good for those who live near CN's railroad crossings.
I called Congressman Foster's office to see if they could assist, but no one was able to give me any direction as to where I could lodge a very legitimate and official complaint. I did receive an apology, however.
Once again and overwhelmingly, the majority has expressed opposition to an issue only to be defeated by an insignificant number of politico minorities. We now, all and each of us, continue to pay the price of "minority rules."
It's possible we may be able to change some things Nov. 2.
