Arlington Heights roommates get 12 years for armed robbery
Arlington Heights roommates charged with robbing a gas station last year pleaded guilty Wednesday in Rolling Meadows, court records show.
In exchange for the tandem guilty pleas to armed robbery, a Cook County judge sentenced Randy Flowers, 24, and Karl Watson, 36, each to 12 years in prison. The sentence ranges from six to 30 years.
Police said the roommates, who lived on the 4000 block of Bonhill Drive, entered the Mobil gas station in Rolling Meadows at 12:20 a.m. April 29, 2012, demanded cash and threatened the clerk. They left with several instant lottery tickets and cash, authorities said.
Both men received credit for the 426 days they have been in custody since their arrest. They were also ordered to pay $639 in fines.
