Aurora's Flowing Forth UMC sets third of three drive-in services
On Sunday, Sept. 5, Flowing Forth United Methodist Church in Aurora will hold the third of three monthly drive-in services.
The Rev. Derek Rogers, pastor, said the outdoor service - weather permitting - is set for Aurora Christian Schools parking lot, 2255 Sullivan Road in Aurora. The public is invited to worship in their vehicles or set up lawn chairs.
Parking is free. A freewill collection is taken. Communion is celebrated with prepackaged elements. Pandemic protocols include wearing facial masks when singing hymns.
In case of inclement weather, worship is held in-person in the ACS theater room.
On Sept. 5, the Rev. Rogers will preach on "Never Abandoned without Hope" to conclude his "This is Us: The Genesis of God's People" sermon series.
Rev. Rogers said, "As we've discovered throughout this sermon series, the book of Genesis is a book of beginnings: most notably the beginning of God's people. We've discovered who we are and who we're called to be.
"As we close our series on the book of Genesis, we'll look at Joseph and how his story gives us one final insight into who we are as God's people."
