Free HIV testing:The Lake County Health Department will host a free HIV counseling and testing health fair and barbecue from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 27 at the Belvidere Medical Building Campus, 2400 Belvidere Road, Waukegan. Results will be available in 20 minutes. Counselors will be available to discuss results and provide information. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates 250,000 of the 1 million people living with HIV/AIDS in the U.S. are unaware of their status. There also will be a hot dog barbecue and children's activities. Driving range fees will be at 2002 levels between June 25 and July 5. Customer appreciation day, is from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 3, and features a free golf clinic from noon to 1 p.m. Equipment demonstrations from various golf manufacturers, raffle prizes and golf challenges are part of the event. The sale will be at 18446 Streamwood Court in unincorporated Lake County near Gurnee. Toys, household items, clothing, furniture, records, collectibles and more will be available. Animal Education and Rescue is a nonprofit humane society. The sale will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. to noon Sunday. All proceeds will go to the organization. Police said they plan the greater focus on catching late-night impaired drivers and unbelted motorists. Statistics show a disproportionate number of traffic deaths occur in the wee hours in Illinois.CLC lines up art exhibitionsEight diverse art exhibitions, ranging from concepts of a mythical paradise to air and space photography, are planned for the 2010-11 season at College of Lake County in Grayslake. The action will be in the college's Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art. All events are free and open to the public. The first exhibit, "From Here to Paradise," will run July 9 through Aug. 13. Gallery hours for July 9 through July 30 will be 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fridays. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday from Aug. 2 to Aug. 13. A free opening reception will be from 7 to 9 p.m. July 9, with live piano music, food and beverages.
