ComEd says everyone will have power back by tonight

ComEd officials said all customers who are still without electricity will have power restored by tonight.

Jeff Burdick, a ComEd spokesman, said less than 6,000 customers remain in the dark due to Monday night storms, down from the 10,100 who did not have power early this morning.

The number of customers who have not had power since Friday has dropped to less than 1,000, all in scattered and isolated areas, Burdick said. These people should have power restored by 6 p.m. today, he added.

Burdick said priority restoration will be given to those affected by Friday's storms.

Meteorologists from the National Weather Service said damage was at a minimum from the severe storms Monday night, but heavy rainfall totals were recorded in the northern suburbs.

Fox Lake had about 1.6 inches of rain from overnight storms, while Gurnee had 1.3 inches.

Tornado sirens sounded in Lake Villa and Lakemoor, though it's unclear if a funnel cloud was spotted.

Additional storms are forecast for tonight, officials said, as a storm system is moving east from Iowa and expected to arrive in the Chicago area about 7 p.m. Before that, it's expected to be sunny with a high of 85 degrees.
