8 hopefuls for Buffalo Grove village manager
The Buffalo Grove village board has whittled down a list of more than 100 candidates who applied for the village manager position down to eight, Village President Elliott Hartstein announced Monday.
Hartstein said the village board has interviewed those eight candidates and may be appointing the new village manager at the July board meeting.
"We have some very fine people in the pool, and I am confident we will end up with the best possible person for the job," Hartstein said.
Outgoing Village Manager and longtime Finance Director William Brimm, who retired after 32 years, the last four as village manager, worked his last village board meeting earlier this month. Brimm will be on vacation for the rest of June, Hartstein said.
Meanwhile, the village board Monday night unanimously appointed Assistant Village Manager Ghida Neukirch as manager pro tem in the interim.
Neukirch in her village manager's report gave a six-month update of how the village staff is doing toward reaching 2010 milestones developed by Brimm.
"We have a staff team that is working on updating the village sign code," Neukirch said.
Neukirch said the village staff will coordinate with the village board to schedule a finance committee meeting in late August, after a new village manager has been appointed, to discuss 2011 budget development and capital plans.
