Hoffman Estates offering loans for home repairs

Homeowners in need of money to make repairs to their unsafe or deteriorated homes may be eligible for a 0 percent, interest-deferred loan up to $25,000 through the Hoffman Estates’ Community Development Block Grant program. The loans are funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and can also be used to correct code violations. To qualify, applicants must reside in the village, own, live in and have equity in the home they want to repair, be up to date on property tax and mortgage payments and meet income requirements listed in the home repairs brochure found at www.hoffmanestates.org/cdbg. Homes will be inspected by a building inspector and the North West Housing Partnership staff.
