Blanchard leads Wisconsin-Whitewater

Two-time defending Division III national champion Wisconsin-Whitewater (14-0) returned to the title game for the seventh straight year with a 20-0 semifinal win over visiting St. Thomas (Minn.) on Saturday.

Matt Blanchard, a senior from Lake Zurich, threw for 179 yards and a touchdown and ran for 39 yards and a score as the Warhawks won their 44th consecutive game. They will play Mount Union (Ohio), a 28-21 winner over Wesleyan, in the Stagg Bowl for the seventh straight time at 6 p.m. Friday in Salem, Va.

Jason Ford (Fremd) caught 3 passes for 34 yards and along with guard Jim Norris (Fremd) helped Oak Park-River Forest product Levell Coppage rush for 110 yards.

The Warhawks allowed only 214 total yards as linebacker Ryan Cortez (Palatine) had 4 tackles and a tackle for loss, and linebacker Kyle Wismer had 8 tackles, a tackle for loss, a sack and an interception.

North Dakota State 24, Lehigh 0:

Former Barrington star Sam Ojuri rushed for 136 yards on 17 carries as No. 2 seed North Dakota State (12-1) rolled to the Football Championship Subdivision quarterfinal win in Fargo, N.D..

Scott Stoczynski (Hoffman Estates) was in on 2 tackles for North Dakota State, which hosts No. 3 Georgia Southern in next weekend’s semifinals.
