Celebrate summer at Lake Villa fest

Lake Villa festival starts the season off right this weekend

Lake Villa’s 11th annual Celebration of Summer will be from Thursday, June 9, through Sunday, June 12, at Lehmann Park, 148 Cedar Ave., on the west side of Cedar between Route 83 and Grand Avenue.

Activities include fireworks and music by the Lakes Area Swing Band Saturday, June 11.

On Sunday, June 12, there will be an expanded classic car show hosted by the Justice League of Car Clubs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All proceeds from the classic car show will go to the Adam J. Kausak Memorial foundation, which was founded by Don and Colleen Kausak after the death of their son from a heart attack caused by the genetic condition Long QT syndrome. The foundation raises money to provide AED defibrillators throughout the community.

A cardboard boat race will be at 1 p.m. Sunday. Boat construction and registration begins at 11 a.m. Cardboard boat kits are available at the event.
