High heat overstaying suburban welcome

Meteorologists from the National Weather Service are warning that temperatures could reach the mid-90s today, while heat indicies will reach about 105 degrees in the western suburbs.
A heat advisory is in effect in the western suburbs, while a heat watch slams into effect through Friday morning for most of Illinois.
The temperatures Tuesday are nothing compared to what is coming on the horizon, officials warn.
Wednesday's high will reach the upper 90s with a heat index expected near 110, while Thursday will reach the mid 90s with a heat index in the mid 100s.
There is also a chance of thunderstorms looming Thursday afternoon and into the evening. Because of the high heat, people are urged to stay inside and out of direct sunshine, drink plenty of fluids, wear loose fitting and light-colored clothing, and familiarize yourselves with local area cooling centers or other municipal buildings like library's.
