Only Kirk can dig us out of money mess
On June 9, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke again stressed the importance of reducing the federal budget deficit in his testimony before a House budget panel.
As I'm writing this, the ever-ballooning national debt is $13,098,456,978,638 and counting. That's a $118,669 debt per taxpayer. Check for yourself at usdebtclock.org, it will be surprisingly bigger by the time you read this.
Our state's projected deficit is half our proposed $25.9 billion budget.
To say we are in a period of crisis would be an understatement. It is for this exact reason that we absolutely need to send a fiscal conservative to the U.S. Senate.
