Teen charged in St. Charles golf club house burglary

A 19-year-old Batavia man is accused of breaking into a St. Charles Park District’s golf course club house early Wednesday morning, according to police.

Police responded to an activated alarm at the Pottawatomie Park Golf Course club house at approximately 1:36 a.m. Wednesday and found the building had been broken into.

The first officer on the scene noticed a hole was cut into the drywall and tools were left at the scene at 845 N. 2nd Avenue, according to police. Officers also noticed a suspect had entered pool area.

Police called for backup to search the building and surrounding area and noticed footprints north of the building.

At approximately 2 a.m., an officer positioned on the perimeter of the search area spotted a man walking out of a wooded area north of the golf course and saw the man get in a vehicle that was parked on 2nd Avenue.

The man drove from the scene, but was stopped on North 3rd Avenue and identified as Taylor B. Erickson of the 700 block of Walnut Street, police said.

Erickson was charged with two counts of burglary and possession of burglary tools and is being held on $15,000 bail.
