Letter carriers 20th annual food drive set for May 11

On Saturday, May 11, the Palatine letter carriers will be holding their annual food drive. The food collected will be distributed to local pantries. With the current recession and ongoing high unemployment, the need remains high this year.

Please donate nonperishable foot items by leaving them on your porch or by the mailbox on Saturday, May 11. Your letter carrier or another volunteer will pick up your donations. If at all possible, please avoid glass containers. Toiletries are also needed. Hotel shampoos and the like are great for donations.

There will also be a gurney in the lobby of the Palatine Post Office, 440 W. Colfax St., in the week leading up to the food drive for drop off donations. For larger donations, call the Palatine Post Office at (847) 359-1799 and ask for Brian Torri to schedule a pickup.

This is an opportunity for all of us to be a hero; please donate generously.
