Palatine to dedicate blood drive to Evanston firefighter
The Palatine Fire Department, Palatine Board of Health and Palatine Medical Reserve Corps will host a Firefighter Blood Donor Challenge from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at Palatine fire station No. 84, 220 W. Illinois Ave. The blood drive is dedicated to Gary Hicks, an Evanston firefighter/paramedic who was recently diagnosed with cancer for the second time. Hicks, currently going through aggressive chemotherapy, is married with three young children. All donors receive a commemorative carryall bag and lunch. LifeSource will conduct the blood drive.
