Route 14 in Barrington closed for hours after train hits semi
Route 14 remained closed for hours Thursday night after a Canadian National freight train collided with a semitrailer truck.
The Barrington Police Department responded to the scene of a crash involving a freight train at 6 p.m., it said. Their preliminary investigation indicates that the freight train was moving south at the Canadian National crossing when it struck the truck on the railroad tracks at Route 14.
The force of the crash resulted in four additional vehicles being struck by the truck, police said.
At least one individual was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. The extent of the injury is unknown, police said.
Route 14 was closed from Lake-Cook Road to Route 59, a stretch of about one mile, police said.
