Court dismisses charges against Wheeling man accused of attempted arson

A Cook County judge dismissed charges against a Wheeling man who prosecutors said menaced a woman earlier this year when he threatened to light a room on fire if she refused to give him money.

Prosecutors told Cook County Judge Joel Greenblatt that they were “unable to meet their burden of proof” in the state’s case against Robin Wilbon, 43, after the woman failed to show up for court for the second time.

Wilbon had been charged with attempted aggravated arson, attempted heinous battery and resisting a police officer.
