We all must show more responsibility
Social justice is a sirens' song that is currently wrecking ships of state on the rocks of bankruptcy all over the world.
Who wouldn't like to see everybody do well? But there is simply no substitute for personal responsibility, fiscal responsibility, self-reliance, jobs, and living within your means.
We have all watched the riots in Greece, France, and even Britain as they have had to rein in their crazy socialist spending and get back to reality. Portugal, Spain, and Italy are on the cusp of disaster, and they may drag all of Europe down the bankruptcy drain.
Faced with disaster, countries all over the world are dramatically cutting back on socialist entitlement spending because they are on the edge of disaster. We are not far behind. We have a $13 trillion dollar deficit and an entitlement commitment on Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid that will doom our economy. Forty-seven percent of Americans pay no federal income taxes to support Medicare and Medicaid as those costs skyrocket.
All we have to do is look at Greece and we can see our fate if we don't get back to reality. We have a short window of opportunity before we break the bank. Everybody is going to have to tighten their belts, live within their means, and cut entitlement expenses.
Let's hope that the Debt Commission recommendations and the painful lessons Europe is teaching us will be taken to heart in Congress before it is too late.
