Police: Cellphone stolen in Naperville armed robbery
Police are investigating a Warrenville teen's report that he was beaten and robbed at gunpoint Monday night in a Naperville apartment building.
The 17-year-old boy told officers he entered the building in the 1500 block of Fairway Drive about 8:30 p.m. when he was confronted by three suspects, who battered him and told him to give up his belongings, according to a news release from Naperville police. One also showed a handgun.
The teen's cellphone and charger were stolen during the encounter, officials said. Though he suffered minor injuries, the victim did not require medical treatment.
Naperville police say they received a delayed report of the armed robbery after the teen returned home.
The suspects are all described as Black men around 18 years old, according to the news release. The one carrying a handgun has dreadlocks, is about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds, officials said.
A second suspect is described as 6 feet tall, about 130 pounds, and was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants. No further description of the third suspect was available.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Naperville police at (630) 420-6665 and ask for the investigations division.
