Wheeling to host first International Fest on Saturday

Wheeling will host a day of global entertainment this weekend with traditional food, drinks and goods from dozens of cultures at the first International Fest.

The event, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, will take place at the Korean Cultural Center of Chicago, 9930 S. Capitol Drive, Wheeling, and is sponsored by the Center, Wheeling/Prospect Heights Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Village of Wheeling, and the Wheeling Park District.

“It’s going to be phenomenal,” said Village President Judy Abruscato. “People will be able to enjoy so many food, flavors and entertainment all from the village of Wheeling.”

The fest will feature more than 30 vendors, a dining area, an entertainment stage, a kids’ zone with a bouncy house, train rides, pony rides, a petting zoo, a face painter, a henna tattoo artist, and more, as well as a designated “21 and older” section, to taste wine, beer and spirits from around the world.

The entertainment lineup will present a variety of cultural performances from dance troupes, musicians, singers and more.

The fest is part of the first anniversary celebration for the Korean Cultural Center of Chicago in Wheeling

“We are honored to host this exciting event that will showcase our campus and our unique cultural offerings to all guests and attendees,” said Younghee Kang, the president of the KCCoC. “We look forward to working with the entire community to promote the celebration and sharing of the rich cultural diversity that we enjoy here.”

All proceeds from the Fest will benefit the KCCoC and the Chamber of Commerce.
