Bright Pink event features fitness, food and women’s issues

Celebrate the ladies in your life while enjoying a day of workouts, spa treatments and tastings from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 29, at Midtown Athletic Club, 1760 N. Hicks Road, Palatine.

Dr. Michelle Luthringshausen, a gynecologist with WomanCare in Arlington Heights and director of robotic surgery at Northwest Community Hospital, will be on hand to discuss preventive breast and bone health, as well as cutting edge gynecological procedures for common female problems.

Midtown Athletic Club’s expert training team will lead a number of high energy fitness classes, including Group Centergy, Cycle/Group Ride, Zumba, Group Core, Yoga and Yamuna Body Rolling.

Mariano’s, Gianni’s Café and Vitamin Water are event sponsors and will be offering product samples.

In addition, there will be a special appearance by Kathy Hart of the Eric & Kathy Show, The Mix 101.9FM. Kathy and Registered Dietitian Melissa Bowman Li will provide an “Introduction to Quinoa” and offer samplings of this special dish.

Cost is $50 per person, with all proceeds benefiting Bright Pink, the only national organization focusing on the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women while providing support for high-risk individuals.
