Elgin's St. John's Lutheran School accepting students for 2023-24 school year

St. John's Lutheran School in Elgin continues its more than 157-year history, accepting students for the 2023-24 school year. There are openings available in preschool, kindergarten and first grade.

Accredited by the National Lutheran School Association and recognized by the State of Illinois, St. John's offers strong academics, limited class size, a safe environment and a caring faculty.

Teachers are all fully certified and teach a strong academic curriculum with integrated technology in a Christ-centered atmosphere.

Families whose children have attended St. John's have come from Elgin, South Elgin, St. Charles, Bartlett, Geneva, Carpentersville, Dundee, Streamwood, Pingree Grove, Hampshire and Sleepy Hollow and some have traveled from as far away as Sycamore, Rockford and Gilberts.

The school campus spreads across two buildings and is connected by a tunnel. In addition to the church, classrooms and large gym, there are separate rooms for large movement, arts and crafts, music, a STEM center and an age appropriate library.

Classrooms are large and airy, yet class sizes are small enough to allow for individualized attention. Children are challenged in their daily tasks, while working collaboratively with their teachers in the educational process. Here, no child slips through the cracks.

Preschool is offered for both half- and full-day and flexible scheduling is available. School hours are 8 to 11 a.m. for half day and 8 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. for a full day.

Families may register for the type and number of days that fit their schedule

The Morning Care Program is available for all students from 7 a.m. until the start of school. Cougar Camp is available after 2:45 p.m.

Extracurricular activities will depend on student interest.
