Newspapers that deliver unwanted copies could soon be facing trespassing charges, St. Charles officials said last night. In response to complaints from residents, alderman discussed the issue at a board meeting and recommended homeowners document and give notice to the newspapers before contacting police to pursue a trespassing complaint. Elmhurst men charged with hacking accounts, posting photos
Three Elmhurst men and a former Elmhurst resident were all charged with Internet crimes after being linked to the theft of photos online, police say. The men are thought to have hacked into multiple online accounts, taking images of women and then posting them on a pornography website. Full story.
Sears Centre breaks paid attendance record
The Sears Centre hosted 22 events in 31 days to break its paid attendance record last month. Hoffman Estates officials said at a meeting last night that the total attendance in March was 59,041. Prior to that, the highest monthly attendance was 40,115 in February 2012. Full story.
Fallen state trooper mourned
Mourners paid their last respects at a visitation last night for a state trooper who died in the line of duty Friday. James Sauter, 28, of Vernon Hills died after his squad car was struck from behind by a semi and then burst into flames. Full story.
Screams scare off intruder
An intruder wearing a white cowboy hat broke into an apartment near Des Plaines but was scared off when one of the residents awoke and started screaming. Full story.

Cubs begin 2013 with a win
