Act of kindness brightens bad time
Right before Christmas Eve we lost a very dear friend and I was on my way to pick up dinner for those of us who gathered to make arrangements. On my way in the rainy snow that was falling I got a flat tire.
Sad, tired and now wet, I was trying to figure out what to do when a gentleman called out, "Looks like you need some help." Not wanting to bother anyone I said thank you but I would take care of it.
He went into the store and later on his way out came over again and asked me if he could help. I gratefully accepted and as we stood in the rain and snow I marveled at what a nice thing he was doing. We didn't talk much. I think I told him about the terrible day I was having and as he was leaving I asked for his name and address so I could send him something and he said he would give me a card but it wasn't necessary to do anything.
The holidays are over and I thought of the kindness extended to me that evening. I pulled out his business card and saw he was president of Classic Builders in Schaumburg. I realized that if he was such a gentleman to me, I knew how he treated his customers.
Ironically, our friend Marty Zeiler, who died earlier that day, was the same kind of person as Mr. Judycki; kind, considerate and always willing to help. I hope Mr. David Judycki and his family had a lovely holiday and hope we all have a great New Year.
