State launches new program to combat underage drinking

Illinois law-enforcement officials launched the state's new underage drinking campaign Thursday in Mundelein.

Dubbed “Your Actions Matter,” the promotional effort will spread the word about the dangers of underage drinking on window decals, drink coasters, posters and signs.

According to a news release from the Illinois Liquor Control Commission, the effort features a logo and slogan designed by a teen from downstate Wayne County and the Illinois Students Against Destructive Decisions' student advisory board.

“Our hope is for the new campaign to help guide the decisions made by both adults and teens in a positive way,” said the designer, 15-year-old Ally Pennington.

The program was announced at an event at the Mundelein police station.
