Vandals damage trees at Naperville school
Naperville police are searching for vandals who have cut trees, causing thousands of dollars in damage, on three separate occasions within the past year at Madison Junior High School, 1000 River Oak Drive.
Police said they most recently were called to the school on March 24 where they discovered a pear tree that once had stood 20 feet tall had been purposely cut about two feet above the ground.
Police said they believe much of the damage to the tree had been done on Feb. 28 when four people were seen in the area around 10:57 p.m. and that high winds finally caused the tree to break.
Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to call Naperville Crime Stoppers at (630) 420-6006. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
